- Day-to-day management of the Translation Department
- Take a lead role in the project management of major contracts and projects
- Defining workflow and best processes to maximize productivity and margins and minimize costs
- Inspire team members to deliver an efficient and high- quality service
- Maintain a clear overview at all times of upcoming workloads
- Provide effective leadership for all staff in terms of support, communication, training and supervision
- Ensure all procedures are completed in compliance with ISO quality standards
- To identify new technology, procedures, workflows that may benefit the Translation Department and implement them
- To manage key accounts and work on them to increase their business by offering excellent customer service and solutions to their requirements
- Vendor management: recruitment and monitoring of suppliers (DTP and Translators) on an ongoing basis to expand pool of suppliers to meet business needs and ensure we are receiving best quality and price To assist the sales team with quotations, providing pre- sales process support, advice and analysis of files
- To discuss and understand each client’s specific requirements and to offer advice if necessary
- To prepare files for translators, ensuring best project preparation, workflow and set up
- To assign translators to specific projects and issuing of Purchase Orders
- To manage multiple translation projects simultaneously, liaising with clients and suppliers on current and forthcoming projects
- Management of client and supplier relationships
- Rate negotiation
- Risk analysis

- Implementation of new Translation Technology within the department
- Use of technology to maximise margins
- Knowledge of DTP packages would be desirable
- Localisation engineering skills and knowledge would be a distinct advantage
37 hours per week (1 Hour Lunch Break)
Monday – Thursday: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm
Friday: 9.00 am – 5.00 pm
(Can work outside normal hours when required)
Client Services Director
We are seeking a Translation Manager with a minimum of 5-years’ project management experience, at least 3 years’ team management experience and in-depth knowledge of CAT tools and Machine Translation.
This is a client focused role where you’ll be supporting and managing a team of Project Managers as well as project managing multiple complex projects yourself.
The ideal Translation Manager should be a natural leader, able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, committed to providing a high level of customer service and keen to join a friendly, busy and growing team.

- A minimum of 5-years’ project and account management experience in the language industry is essential, preferably managing localisation or transcreation projects
- Proficient use of CAT tools, including Trados Studio
- In-depth knowledge and experience of using Machine Translation essential
- Demonstrable experience managing large, complex projects
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Ability to speak a second language
- Proven track record of delivering high level Customer service
- Client facing experience essential
- Detail focused
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Time management essential to meet tight deadlines
- Must have excellent computer skills with an advanced knowledge of Microsoft office
- Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
- Implementation of new technology within the department and training of team
- Strong problem solving and negotiation skills with the ability to persuade others
- Commercially and financially astute, with the ability to ensure the Translation department delivers projects within budget
- A Bachelor’s Degree in foreign languages or Translation Studies (or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience)
- Prince 2 an advantage
- Full-time, permanent position
- Full, clean current driving licence necessary
- Travel within UK may be required
